Military real estate auctions to start in Moscow

Russia's Defense Ministry will start on Tuesday the first of a series of auctions to sell off military properties in Moscow to raise money to house servicemen.

The first auction will start at 11.00 a.m. Moscow time (7.00 a.m. GMT) in the culture center of Russia's Armed Forces. Two military facilities will be up for sale.

The first lot is on Levoberezhnaya street in northwest Moscow with a total area of 28,400 square meters. The starting price is 1.149 billion rubles ($50 million).

The second lot is a military base located on the exclusive Rublevskoye highway in western Moscow, with a starting price of 2.6 million rubles ($113 million). The lot consists of buildings, facilities and three plots of land.

Russia AFI to sell $207 mln Moscow office property

MOSCOW, May 20 (Reuters) - AFI Development (AFIDLq.L: Quote, Profile, Research), a Russia-focused real estate company, said on Tuesday it had agreed to sell an office building located in central Moscow.

Total proceeds from the sale of the Aquamarine II project, in which AFI has a 50 percent stake, will amount to $207 million that AFI will share with the other owner of the project.

AFI, 71 percent owned by Israeli conglomerate Africa-Israel (AFIL01.TA: Quote, Profile, Research), said in a statement the sale price implies an exit yield of 6.8 percent.

UAE debut for $3.5bn Moscow project

The Metropol Group, a major Russian developer will unveil a mammoth $3.5 billion sustainable development project being built in Moscow at the upcoming Cityscape expo in Abu Dhabi.

Based on cutting edge Japanese 'green' technology the 'city-within-a-city' Metropoliya project features a 1.5 million sq m mixed use development about seven kilometres from the Kremlin.

Metropoliya will utilise the latest 'green' technology available by the world’s top architectural practice and global leader in sustainable designs, Nikken Sekkei of Japan at the Cityscape Abu Dhabi, which runs from May 13 to 15, said a top Metropol official.

Think about it: Moscow only has 35,000 hotel beds that you'd actually want to sleep in; the visa problem seems to be a slow-motion explosion happening before our eyes; Moscow is an arduous four-hour flight away from most western European capitals; and Moscow has officially been anointed most expensive city in the world.

In fact, the more you think about it, the more it becomes clear that whoever decided to host the Champions League final in Moscow has never been anywhere near the Russian capital in their life. So, whichever team lifts the cup on 21 May, the result will be the same: chaos.
